President of the Wisconsin Alliance of Retired Americans and Medicare Recipient Slam Johnson’s Attacks on Medicare Ahead of 56th Anniversary

Madison, Wis. — Today, Wisconsin Alliance for Retired Americans President Gary Mitchell and Green Bay Medicare recipient Sarah Conklin blasted Ron Johnson’s efforts to gut Medicare for the over 1.1 million Wisconsinites who depend on it. Johnson has voted three times to end Medicare as we know it by attempting to gut funding, drive up out of pocket costs for seniors, and raise the eligibility age.

You can watch the full event here and see highlights of what the speakers said below:

Wisconsin Alliance for Retired Americans President Gary Mitchell: The people I represent want to live their lives without fear that they are going to have Medicare ripped out from under them. But with Ron Johnson in office, that won’t happen. We know every day Johnson sits in the Senate is a day that our Medicare is in jeopardy of being stripped down to the bone.

Medicare Recipient Sarah Conklin: I live in fear that one day my life will be put in immediate jeopardy because of Ron Johnson — that is a heavy burden, and it’s why I I believe so strongly that he does not deserve to sit in the United States Senate.
