Madison, Wis. –– According to this morning’s jobs report, all 50 states and the District of Columbia saw their jobless rate decrease from the year before. In Wisconsin, unemployment claims are significantly down from this time last year and statewide COVID-19 cases have hit new lows, sitting at the lowest mark since March 2020.

The American Rescue Plan has provided critical pandemic relief to Wisconsinites across the state by supporting small businesses, expanding access to broadband in rural communities, and making affordable housing available across the state, no thanks to a single Republican in Congress.

In response to today’s news, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Rapid Response Director Julia Hamelburg released the following statement:

“The numbers don’t lie: The economic recovery led by President Joe Biden and Gov. Tony Evers continues to spur new job growth as Wisconsinites get vaccinated and get back to work. Simply put, Democrats are delivering for Wisconsin.

“Wisconsinites deserve leaders that prioritize the needs of working people over wealthy donors and corporate greed—and while GOP lawmakers like Sen. Ron Johnson continue voting against the interests of Wisconsin families, Democrats are working to put more money in people’s pockets, support small businesses, and get kids back in schools.”
