Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Ron Kind was announced as a winner of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Jefferson – Hamilton Award for Bipartisanship. This award recognizes members of Congress who are committed to working across the aisle to find solutions to the issues facing our nation.

“Here in Wisconsin, we have a long history of leaders that represent both parties and know that different political views don’t represent the whole of one’s character. It’s a tradition I strive to honor every day as a Member of Congress. That’s why I’m honored to have once again received the Jefferson – Hamilton Award for Bipartisanship,” said Rep. Ron Kind. “Working in a bipartisan manner is essential to effectively tackling the issues facing all Americans, and I will continue to seek out common ground to move our nation forward.”

“These awards recognize members of Congress who demonstrated a commitment to advancing bipartisan solutions that address our nation’s problems and move our economy forward,” said U.S. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Suzanne Clark. “In a time of intense polarization and gridlock Rep. Kind’s record of working across the aisle is to be commended.”

Last year, Rep. Kind received the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Jefferson – Hamilton Award for Bipartisanship. Additionally, he was ranked 7th in bipartisanship out of all 435 members of Congress; 2nd amongst Democrats; and 1st in the Wisconsin Delegation by the Lugar Center. The nonpartisan website GovTrack also found Rep. Kind to be a bipartisan leader in Congress, introducing the 2nd highest number of bills with bipartisan cosponsors and one of the most effective members of Congress with the 7th highest number of bills signed into law.

Rep. Kind is a member of the Ways and Means Committee, the most powerful – and the oldest – committee in the House of Representatives. It has jurisdiction over tax measures, the management of public debt, trade and tariff laws, Social Security, Medicare, pensions, and many other economic growth measures.
