WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) recently introduced the No Vax Pass Act. This bill, as first reported by Empower Wisconsin, would ensure taxpayer dollars do not contribute to the development of vaccine passport systems by prohibiting any state and local government from using federal funds to develop these programs. “Vaccine passports are a terrible idea that raise significant privacy concerns and make no sense given current rates of vaccination, natural immunity, and infections,” said Rep. Gallagher. “At a minimum, Congress should ensure that federal dollars don’t go to developing systems that will limit Americans’ ability to live their lives and provide for their families. This bill takes important steps to keep tax-payer dollars away from funding unnecessary government interference.”
While some states have opted to ban vaccine passport systems, others have proceeded with the developing of these programs. This bill would make it more difficult for states and localities to establish these systems by preventing them from using federal dollars to contribute to vaccine passport development.
