- Children’s Wisconsin Flow Cytometer
- Recipient: Recipient: Children’s Hospital & Health System Inc.

- Amount of Request: $400,000
- Explanation of Request: Children’s Research Institute (“CRI”), based within Children’s Wisconsin (Children’s), advances pediatric medical research in Wisconsin and beyond with more than 1,000 active clinical studies, include ~200 intervention clinical trials. CRI is taking discoveries from the laboratory and converting them to new therapies, diagnostics, and other innovations at patients’ bedsides. Pediatric research is vital to providing the best care for kids today and into the future. Children’s requests an appropriation of $400,000 for the purchase of a new flow cytometer, a critical piece of laboratory equipment utilized by several different CRI research groups, including those studying pediatric cancer and immune disorders. This funding would help mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our research endeavors and help Children’s continue to be a leader in developing surgical and monitoring innovations, diagnostic tools and new treatments to improve the health and well-being of kids in Wisconsin.

- Waukesha Water Authority New Elevated Storage Tank

- Explanation of Request: The City of Waukesha is in the process of developing a new water supply. One component of the new water supply was a flow control station that regulated water pressure being delivered into the system. The cost estimate for the flow control station was $1,700,000. Due to environmental and historical concerns, the location of some of the facilities changed. Due to the change in location, the need for a flow control station was replaced by a need for a new elevated storage tank. The cost of the elevated storage tank is $3,130,000. The increased cost associated with this change results in a budget deficit of $1,430,000. The City of Waukesha Water Utility is requesting financial assistance to help with the budget deficit as a result of this change. The City is seeking a $530,000 State and Tribal Assistance Grant (STAG). The grant request qualifies under several criteria identified by the Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies. Those criteria being as follows: 1) Facilitate compliance with national primary drinking water regulations or address serious risks to public health including non regulated contaminants (i.e. PFAS). 2) Rehabilitate or develop water sources (excluding reservoirs, dams, dam rehabilitation and water rights) to replace contaminated sources. 3) Install or upgrade treatment facilities. 4) Install or upgrade storage facilities, including finished water reservoirs, to prevent microbiological contaminants from entering the water system. 5) Project planning, design, and other related costs. The $530,000 would provide approximately 35% of the funding deficit with each federal dollar that helps support this project directly reducing any potential rate increase on local residents.
