Madison, WI — Senator Chris Kapenga (R – Delafield) issued the following statement:

“The state of the state needs improvement. The governor has spoken about the many challenges Wisconsin has faced over the past year. I am looking forward to having productive conversations that I hope will lead to real solutions for Wisconsin.

“One area that needs an immediate solution is getting unemployment checks into the hands of those who they have been promised to. So many people were displaced from their jobs, and many for the first time ventured into the unemployment system only to be lost in the shuffle over and over. I expect the governor’s office to make these individuals whole, and work with us to help get Wisconsin back to work.

“Also, moving forward, we must be determined to keep our kids from lagging behind. The consensus is that in-person classes are far and away best for our kids. Unfortunately, too many parents and students in Wisconsin are not being allowed to decide what is best for their educational needs. That needs to change.

“Finally, the Wisconsin Legislature will have a number of tough decisions coming up in our next budget. However, thanks to the prudent decisions of the Republican legislature, our state is in far better shape than it could be. We will continue to bring a levelheaded yet hopeful approach to the future.”
