Joins ‘America’s Newsroom’ to discuss questions surrounding the origins of COVID-19
WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) on Tuesday joined Fox News’ ‘America’s Newsroom’ to discuss questions surrounding the origins of COVID-19 and the letter he and colleagues sent to Dr. Francis Collins, Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) requesting information on gain of function research.

On mainstream media bias:
“First of all, one of their own finally issued and wrote a very important article. Nicholas Wade, a former New York Times science reporter, really laid out the case for a lab source of this virus. So now all of the sudden it’s acceptable. The evidence of the creation of this in a lab or the leaking from a lab has been hidden in plain sight for literally months, but the mainstream media just won’t pick it up in a story.”
On letter to NIH:
“Our letter is really asking NIH Director Collins to tell us more about this gain of function pause, and also the exception for national security concerns and reasons. So we asked something like 17 questions that are really kind of getting to the heart of the issue in terms of what the U.S. government health agencies funded in terms of gain of function research, creating chimeric viruses, and how we cooperated with, for example, Dr. Shi who worked at the Wuhan lab. So again, all this has been available for months. The evidence has been hidden in plain sight. The media hasn’t wanted to pick it up and certainly Dr. Fauci hasn’t wanted to talk about it, and when he does talk about it he uses very lawyerly phrases and that just increases my curiosity.”
