MADISON – Yesterday, The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award Commission announced that Rep. Shelia Stubbs (D-77) will be honored with the Dr. Rev Martian Luther King Humanitarian Award. Upon this announcement, Rep.Stubbs released the following statement.
“It is an honor to be to be recognized by the Humanitarian Award Commission, and to be alongside my fellow awardees Lilada Gee and Shyra Adams. I want to thank those that nominated me for recognizing my work, and for bringing my name forward. I also want to thank my colleagues in the Wisconsin State Legislature and the Dane County Board of Supervisors for working alongside me, and my constituents for their continued support.”
“Most of all, I want to thank my husband Bishop Godfrey Stubbs, my daughter Aquila, and my parents Elder Linda Hoskins and Deacon Benjamin Hoskins. Without their support, and the grace of my church family at End Time Ministries International, The NAACP, and The Delta Sigma Theta Madison Alumnae Chapter, none of my work would be possible. ”
“I pray that my social justice work will continue create real change in Madison. As we enter into this New Year, I remain committed to the qualities of service, leadership, and action that Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King embodied. Together, we will continue to improve our community and make Madison a better place for everyone”
