MADISON – This evening Governor Evers delivered his 3rd State of the State address virtually. Rep. Jodi Emerson (D-Eau Claire) released the following statement in response:

“There is no doubt that 2020 has been a difficult year for Wisconsin. Workers, families, students, and businesses have faced challenges none of us could have predicted a year ago. While the problems created by the COVID-19 pandemic have been unprecedented in many ways, the pandemic has also underscored issues that existed long before COVID hit Wisconsin, such as unequal access to health care, inadequate rural broadband infrastructure, and an outdated unemployment system. It is crucial that we move forward in 2021 by addressing these and other issues together.

Throughout this crisis, I have been consistently impressed by the resilience, compassion, and community spirit of my constituents and of people across our state. I am also grateful for the strong, thoughtful leadership Governor Evers has displayed as he navigates our state through the challenges posed by COVID-19. I remain deeply optimistic about Wisconsin’s future. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to address whatever challenges and opportunities this new year may bring.“
