La Crosse, Wis – Tonight, amid the continued COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Tony Evers gave his 2021 State of the State address. Usually held in-person, during a joint session of the legislature, this year Governor Evers chose to present his speech virtually to the citizens of the state, in accordance with best public health practices. Upon the conclusion of his address Rep. Billings released the following statement.
“Tonight the Governor highlighted some of our triumphs in the state in the midst of a pandemic, including early distribution of PPE for health care workers and investing over $379 million in small, local businesses statewide,” said Rep. Billings. “But he also acknowledged areas where the pandemic elevated cracks in the system that need to be addressed including access to broadband for our schools and business, and making Wisconsin’s unemployment insurance system more accessible and easier to navigate. I have championed these issues and brought forth legislation to address each. I look forward to working with the Governor and my Republican colleagues to advance these important issues in the coming legislative session.”
Rep. Jill Billings serves the 95th District in the Wisconsin State Assembly. The 95th district includes all of the city of
La Crosse, town of Campbell and a portion of the town of Shelby.
