Mullenix kicks off first 120 days of campaign by listening to Wisconsinites

MENASHA, Wis. (May 11, 2021) – Douglas Mullenix, a Republican and Menasha resident, announced the launch of his campaign to represent Wisconsin’s Sixth Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Mullenix will challenge the four-term incumbent, Glenn Grothman in the Republican primary if Grothman chooses to run again.

“Glenn Grothman has been in Congress for four terms but now is the time for a change in the district’s leadership. I have heard over and over that people don’t know who Glenn is and I would ask, if you don’t know Glenn, then how does Glenn know you and your needs? How can someone represent you in Washington D.C. if they don’t know you?” Mullenix asks. “I am running for Congress because I believe Wisconsinites deserve a new leader, one who will listen to them and help create a better life for them.”

Mullenix is kicking off his campaign by focusing on learning and listening to Wisconsinites in the Sixth Congressional District. For the first 120 days of his campaign, Mullenix will hold town halls, in-person and virtual meetings, and visit communities throughout the district to learn more about what people want from their government.

“I know it’s not the traditional way to start a campaign – candidates typically come in and say they are going to listen but instead of hearing out their constituents and learning what is important to them, they tell their district what they should find important. I want to flip the script – I have the foundation of a platform focused on the economy, education, and mental health, but during the first 120 days of my campaign, I want to listen and learn from people in the Sixth Congressional District and hear what they think about these topics and what they want to see changed. My platform is that I am here to listen so we can achieve results that matter to the people in the district.”

“If you live in the communities from Menasha to Portage to Mequon, up the Lake Michigan shoreline to Two Rivers, or in any of the cities, towns, and rural areas in between, then I want to know – what is important to you? Are you okay with the way you are being represented? Is the educational system meeting your expectations? What can I do to make a difference that improves your life, health, and overall well-being?” Mullenix said.

Mullenix, 31, spent three years working in management consulting focused on improving financial stability for medical practices and strategic growth and branding for start-up companies. Before that, he spent five years working in private equity and venture capital for an array of industries.

Mullenix, originally from St. Louis, grew up all over the world, living in nine states, and abroad in Mexico, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and France. Mullenix calls Wisconsin home because of the warm welcome his family received when relocating here combined with the midwestern values and work ethic of the community.

The primary election will be held in August 2022, and the general election is on Nov. 8, 2022.
