MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers will report raising $5 million, with more than $7 million in the bank after the first six months of 2021, significantly out-pacing recent gubernatorial re-election campaigns in the state.

“We aren’t taking anything for granted – that’s why we’re starting early and building the strong foundation we need to re-elect Governor Evers in 2022,” said Tony for Wisconsin Campaign Manager Cassi Fenili. “Our early fundraising success is only possible because of the overwhelming support the governor has earned and his steady leadership that has kept Wisconsin moving in the right direction. People across Wisconsin know how important it is to re-elect Governor Evers and continue delivering results for Wisconsin families, small businesses, and communities.”

The finance report, which covers January through June 2021, shows Evers in a significantly stronger position than past gubernatorial re-election campaigns. In fact, Evers’ cash-on-hand of $7.3 million is three times higher than what Scott Walker reported at this point in 2017 and 2013 ahead of his re-election campaign.

Evers will also report raising $5 million during the period, from more than 17,000 individual contributors, with contributions from every county in Wisconsin.

Since announcing his re-election last month, Evers has continued to expand his campaign team and build momentum for his re-election. Last week Evers signed the first bipartisan budget since 2007, including one of the largest tax cuts in Wisconsin history, and restoring the state’s two-thirds funding commitment to public schools for the first time in two decades.

Evers’ strong fundraising report follows his work in 2020 to raise millions for the Save the Veto initiative through the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, which successfully protected the governor’s veto power and flipped two seats in the Wisconsin Assembly.
