Subject: RE: Scheduling Request

Nicole,

Thanks for your email.

Unfortunately the Governor has a full schedule today and tomorrow.

We would be happy to look at later dates, but the Governor would like to have any proposals the four leaders have ahead of time and wants to discuss expanding Badgercare and the use of those federal funds as well. Once we have those in-hand, we can set up a meeting.

As I’m sure you saw, the U.S. Department of Treasury issued official guidance yesterday and also confirmed Wisconsin’s final allocation of ARPA dollars will only be $2.5 billion. While the reduction from the estimate at the time of passage is due to Wisconsin’s positive economic outlook, aided in large part by the investments the Governor made with previous federal funds to help bounce back from the pandemic, this reduction in funds will mean less resources available to meet immediate needs and fully restore economic well-being. While we are well aware of the action taken last week by JFC, given this development the Governor would like to discuss BadgerCare expansion again with the four leaders.

Please confirm the leaders are open to that conversation and feel free to send over any proposals as they are ready.

Thanks,

ZM

Subject: Scheduling Request

Good afternoon Zach,

I am following up on the Governor’s response to the letter sent by Speaker Vos, Majority Leader LeMahieu, Co-Chair Marklein, and Co-Chair Born regarding a meeting to discuss the Governor’s plan for the federal funds from the American Rescue Plan Act.

After checking our various schedules, the four members of Republican Leadership would be able to meet with the Governor either Tuesday, May 11th or Wednesday, May 12th in the Capitol.

Please let us know with reasonable notice what would work and we will accommodate with the Governor’s schedule.

Thank you,

Nicole
