Reconstruction work is ongoing at the I-39/90 and I-43/WIS 81 interchange (Exit 185) in Beloit. To safely accommodate the construction operations, sections of I-39/90 and I-43 near the Beloit interchange will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday night (August 18) and 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Thursday night (August 19). I-39/90 traffic will use the current interchange ramps at Exit 185 to bypass the closure. I-43 and WIS 81 traffic should follow the message boards along the marked detour route during the overnight closures.
Drivers are urged to plan ahead, use alternate routes, and allow extra time to reach their destination. These closures are weather dependent and subject to change.
During the overnight closures, crews will remove the old I-43/WIS 81 structures over I-39/90. Originally built in 1959, the two bridges are the last original structures to be removed as part of the I-39/90 Expansion Project.
