La CROSSE, WI — Today, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled in favor of upholding the Affordable Care Act. In response to this decision, Dr. Bob Freedland, ophthalmologist in La Crosse and the Wisconsin State Lead for the Committee to Protect Health Care, released the following statement:

“As a physician for 40 years, I saw firsthand the difference the ACA made in helping patients, friends, and neighbors who had put off doctors’ visits and treatments finally access the care they needed. I’m relieved that, even against Republican attacks, the ACA will remain intact and continue to provide coverage to hundreds of thousands of Wisconsinites who get care through the ACA marketplaces, as well as the 2.4 million residents who won’t be denied coverage because of their preexisting conditions. I look forward to continuing to work toward a future where every resident of Wisconsin can afford the health care they need to lead healthy, happier lives.”
