(Brown County, Wis.) – Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach and Brown County Veterans Service Officer Joe Aulik will participate in the annual Veterans Appreciation Day and VA Benefits Outreach Event as part of the Brown County Fair this Sunday, August 22nd.

“Each year, our Brown County Veterans Recognition Committee highlights one part of the veteran community to show appreciation of. This year the committee selected spouses and caregivers to recognize,” says Streckenbach. “Our entire veteran community has sacrificed so that our entire nation may enjoy the freedoms we have, and it is important for us to recognize them.”

This year’s certificate ceremony features guest speaker Kevin Hermening, a former Iranian POW, along with the national anthem sung by Jessmyn Kyra and music by the Montery Trail Band.

“This is a great opportunity for veterans to enjoy the fair for free, attend the veterans tent to learn about their benefits, gather with fellow veterans in the community, listen to an awesome speaker, and honor those who are caregivers of our veteran heroes,” says Brown County Veterans Service Office Joe Aulik.

Veterans Appreciation Day and the VA Benefits Outreach Event takes place from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 22nd, at the Brown County Fairgrounds. You can learn about VA benefits from the Brown County Veterans Service Office, Veterans Service Organizations, the Green Bay Vet Center, Veterans Administration, and the Aging and Disability Resource Center.

Sunday only is free admission for Military, Reservist, National Guard, Veterans and one guest (rides not included). Additional guests are $10 with rides included. Please present your Military ID, Veteran ID, License Veteran Identifier, VA Health Care ID, DD 214, or Discharge Certificate at the South Gate (near the De Pere Ice Center for Free Parking).
