MADISON, Wis. — President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris’s inauguration today is a moment of hope, unity, and renewal.  As the United States tragically marks 400,000 confirmed COVID-19 deaths and the federal government fails to efficiently distribute vaccines to the states, A Better Wisconsin Together is excited to welcome the Biden-Harris administration and their plans to deliver safety and economic well-being to all.

Said A Better Wisconsin Together Executive Director Nicole Safar, “Over the last year, Wisconsinites and Americans have pulled through hard times by pulling together, from sewing masks in the spring to marching for racial justice in the summer to voting in record numbers for a better future in the fall. Now, these efforts to build prosperous communities are going to get a big boost from the incoming administration.”

The Biden-Harris administration is proposing $1,400 supplemental stimulus checks, $170 billion in investments in K-12 schools, emergency funding for state and local governments, a $15 minimum wage, $160 billion for vaccine distribution, and more. President Biden’s plan puts the health and safety of communities and families first, and will provide a boost to the anemic vaccine distribution, which to this point has been hindered by the Trump administration’s incompetence. Congress should take up the President’s plan and pass it without delay.

Safar commented, “As the new poet laureate, Amanda Gorman, so simply stated, ‘Being American is not the pride we inherit, it’s the past we step into and how we repair it.’ We have come together across our differences to deliver a new government that cares about its people. We’ve proven that we can accomplish anything when we stand united. Our work doesn’t stop here. It’s time to bring relief to Americans who have suffered during this pandemic and restore economic well-being to our communities.”
