Kerr’s first TV ad of general election calls for reopening schools safely

State superintendent candidate Deb Kerr’s campaign released its first TV ad of the general election, again calling for state schools to reopen for in-person learning. Kerr’s campaign said the ad will run on cable and broadcast TV, but declined to release additional details. Kerr says in the ad that science shows that it is safe to return kids to school, adding we “can no longer play politics with our children. Let’s safely reopen our schools.” “I’m running for state superintendent because our parents and children are not winning,” she says.

Gill launches his first ad of 3rd District Court of Appeals campaign

RSLC Judicial Fairness Initiative ad backs Grogan in 2nd District Court of Appeals race

The Republican State Leadership Committee’s Judicial Fairness Initiative is launching a cable buy to back Shelley Grogan in the 2nd District Court of Appeals race. The Washington, D.C.-based group said it’s putting $50,000 behind the buy, which will air in Milwaukee and Green Bay. The group has done independent expenditures in past state Supreme Court races but said this is the first time it’s weighed in on a Wisconsin appeals court contest. DOT: Transportation grant aids job growth in Fitchburg

Legislative Democrats have sponsored a bill meant to raise the minimum wage for restaurant workers who depend upon tips. Tipped workers in the state may be paid a minimum wage of as little as $2.13 or $2.33 per hour depending on the worker’s age and length of employment. The bill, introduced by Sen. Chris Larson, D-Milwaukee, and Rep. Francesca Hong, D-Madison, would automatically raise tipped workers’ minimum wage to the current minimum wage of $7.25 per hour.
