February 20, 2020 (Madison, WI) The Wisconsin Women’s Council congratulates the outstanding work and commitment of the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin and their twenty local Leagues as they celebrate their 100th Anniversary on February 20, 2020.
Working together in communities across the state for the past 100 years, the League endures as a nonpartisan, grassroots organization committed to empowering voters, defending democracy and making sure that democracy works. The Women’s Council works in partnership with the League on the Wisconsin 19th Amendment Suffrage Centennial Celebration Committee.
“As members of the 19th Amendment Suffrage Centennial Celebration Committee, we see firsthand the value of the League and its membership as they reach out all across our State to share messages of empowerment and engagement for voters,” said Christine Lidbury, Executive Director. “We look forward to working with the League for another 100 years as we both continue to move forward efforts to ensure equal representation for women in Wisconsin.”

The Wisconsin Women’s Council, established in 1983, is Wisconsin’s statutory commission on the status of women and girls.
