Madison, Wis. – Ned Daniels, Jr., Chairman of the Forest County Potawatomi Community (FCPC), will welcome members of Wisconsin’s 11 federally recognized native tribes and deliver the 16th annual State of the Tribes address from the State Capitol on Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR) will live stream the address at wpr.org and broadcast it statewide at 7 p.m.
The Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council selects a member to deliver the annual address. Daniels was elected Chairman in 2018 following two terms on the FCPC executive council and as a member of the Potawatomi Gaming Commission. He and his wife operated several small businesses in Forest County prior to his leadership of the FCPC. As Chairman, Daniels works with the FCPC’s elected executive council to manage the economy of the tribe, govern its administration and oversee all agreements with federal, state and local governments. Daniels’ top priority is to help the Potawatomi people continue their fight against the opioid epidemic.
The State of the Tribes address began in 2005 as an opportunity for the people of Wisconsin, Constitutional officers, members of the state Supreme Court and legislature to understand the issues facing our native tribes and celebrate our common values.
