(WISCONSIN) — Today, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin announced it will be hosting a fundraiser featuring the cast of VEEP, including Julia Louis-Dreyfus (President Selina Meyer) Anna Chlumsky (Amy Brookheimer), Reid Scott (Dan Eagan), Sam Richardson (Richard Splett), Tony Hale (Gary Walsh), Timothy Simons (Jonah Ryan), Clea DuVall (Marjorie Palmiotti), Matt Walsh (Mike McLintock), David Mandel (Executive Producer and Show-Runner), and a number of special guests.

See the video below to hear more from Julia Louis-Dreyfus about the event:

In addition, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and David Mandel released the following statement upon the announcement of the event:

“Corruption, egomania, and unbridled incompetence— when we were working on the final seasons of Veep, we thought we were making a comedy, not a documentary. Trump’s disastrous response to COVID-19, his relentless attacks on the foundation of our democracy, and the magnitude of his and his children’s corruption have put the United States in a dire place. On the plus side, the President has found time to play a lot of golf. The only way we can balance the scales is by removing this danger from the White House, and we can only do that by delivering the state of Wisconsin to Joe Biden in November. That’s why we—along with the cast of VEEP—are so excited to support the Democratic Party of Wisconsin and all their efforts to change the course of history.”

The reunion event will include a discussion of the show, a fan Q&A, and special skits. Similar to previous DPW fundraisers with The Princess Bride and Parks and Recreation casts, which raised a combined nearly $5 million, anyone in the United States can watch and participate in the VEEP cast reunion for a minimum $1 donation. The event will take place on October 4th at 6:00 PM CT.

Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler released the following statement upon the announcement of the event:

“We are ecstatic to have the second worst President ever Selina Meyer and her incompetent— but not THE most incompetent— staff headline a fundraiser for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. Whatever pitfalls her administration faced, it’s clear the Meyer administration— as short as it was— would have handled the COVID-19 pandemic with the seriousness it deserves, rather than making it a political game as Trump has done. Former President Meyer and her team recognize that if we are going to get our country back on track, we have to send Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to the White House, and that can only happen if we win Wisconsin (NOTE: please double check Press Secretary Mike McLintock’s spelling of Wisconsin).”
