The following statement on Governor Evers’ plans to issue a new public emergency order and face coverings requirement until mid-January can be attributed to Society President Erik Gundersen, MD:
“Every day, more Wisconsin physicians and other health care staff are personally affected by the pandemic, and that means hospital capacities are even more strained. We can all help ‘bend the curve’ of the virus if we wear masks, wash hands and stay distant from others. This includes avoiding even small groups and staying home when we can.
“Physicians want to be able to take care of the state’s patients – those with COVID-19, those with other conditions and those who need access to their regular care. Everyone in Wisconsin needs to rally around what can attack this pandemic. If we all do this, we can save lives.”
