John Ashley, executive director of the Wisconsin Association of School Boards, issued this statement about the retirement of Sen. Luther Olsen:

“On behalf of the Wisconsin Association of School Boards, I want to thank Senator Luther Olsen for his many years of public service, from the Berlin Area School Board to the state Assembly and Senate.

In particular, I want to recognize his leading voice on K-12 public education policy through his role as vice chair of the budget committee and chair of the Senate and Assembly education committees. I also want to express my sincere appreciation to Sen. Olsen for always being generous with his time and regularly attending WASB events over the years. As a former school board member, he was always happy to engage with our members.

The WASB and, in particular, our Government Relations staff have had a positive working relationship with Sen. Olsen and his staff over the years, which we all value and miss.

I want to extend my congratulations to Sen. Olsen on his retirement and wish him and his family all the best going forward.”

The WASB is a membership organization representing all 421 school boards and 12 cooperative educational service agency (CESA) boards of control in Wisconsin.
