MADISON– Melissa Sargent (D-Madison) released the following statement announcing the endorsement of Judy Karofsky, for her candidacy for Wisconsin’s 16th Senate District:
“Today, I am honored to share an endorsement from Judy Karofsky, an active Madisonian who I have had the pleasure to get to know and work with over the years,” said Sargent. “Judy has always been a dedicated community leader and progressive champion, and I am appreciative of her support.”
One of the first women in Wisconsin to serve as mayor, Judy Karofsky served as the Mayor of Middleton from 1975 to 1977. In her continued efforts to fight for our community and the betterment of our state, Karofsky worked as Housing Program Director for the Wisconsin Partnership for Housing Development, and was the Director of Community Relations and Fund Development for the Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups (CWAG). She is a dedicated advocate for affordable housing, with her research focused on the demographic shift and housing needs of senior populations. She is the proud mother of Jill Karofsky, a judge on the Dane County Circuit Court and Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate.
“Melissa Sargent puts in the work to create real change for our state. Whether it be knocking doors, taking the time to meet with constituents, or proactive community outreach, Melissa has demonstrated that her main priority as an elected official is working directly on behalf of the people of Dane County,” said Karofsky. “Melissa has proven time and time again that she is responsible, committed, and diligent in her efforts to support working families through measures such as raising the minimum wage and fighting for affordable housing. I am honored to support her in her candidacy, and I cannot wait to see what she will accomplish next as State Senator.”
