Washington, DC —Today, Rep. Ron Kind voted for the Caring for Americans with Supplemental Help (CASH) Act. This legislation increases the value of the second round of Economic Impact Payments in the recently enacted COVID-19 relief package from $600 for individuals to $2,000.
“I’m glad that the bipartisan COVID-19 relief package was finally signed into law given the amount of pain and suffering Wisconsin families have been facing during these challenging times,” said Rep. Ron Kind. “However, more support is needed and $600 rebate checks don’t go far enough to provide Wisconsinites with the relief they deserve. That’s why today I was proud to vote to increase direct payments to $2,000. Now, I hope the Senate will stand with Members on both sides of the aisle and the President to swiftly pass this vital legislation.”
Rep. Kind voted for the bipartisan emergency COVID-19 relief package on December 21, 2020 to provide critical relief for Wisconsin workers, small businesses, farmers, health care providers, and families. The legislation lays the groundwork for a smooth COVID-19 vaccine rollout and includes many priorities Rep. Kind fought for such as his “Paycheck Protection for Producers Act” to expand access for family farmers when qualifying for the paycheck protection program; $300 million in new grants to fund rural broadband buildout and $65 million to complete broadband coverage maps; and $15 billion grant for music venues harmed by the pandemic such as the Pablo Center in Eau Claire.
