Washington, DC—Yesterday, the Trump Administration released its proposal for the 2021 budget. The President’s budget proposes cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, as well as continued attacks on the Affordable Care Act. The budget also includes the elimination of subsidized student loans and the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.

Rep. Kind released the following statement:

“Even with all these cuts to vital programs, the President still has failed to address our nation’s growing annual deficit—which topped $1 trillion last year, the highest ever outside of wartime or an economic recession. Instead, the President is proposing cuts to Medicare and Social Security in order to pay for more tax cuts for the wealthy and big corporations. Whether it’s student loan debt or our nation’s debt, if this budget passes, we would be leaving behind a legacy of debt for future generations.”
