La Crosse, WI – Today, Rep. Ron Kind held a press conference with Librarian of Congress Dr. Carla Hayden and Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC) President Ron “Duff” Martin to discuss available federal and state educational resources to help teachers, parents, and students.

“I know so many students, families, and educators have experienced a serious disruption to their school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and are doing their best to adjust to distance learning. Wisconsin teachers have been a shining example of resilience through this crisis, continuing to provide students with an exceptional education while adapting to the challenges of online learning,” said Rep. Ron Kind. “I want to ensure they have every advantage, and that’s why I was glad that Librarian of Congress Dr. Carla Hayden and WEAC President Duff Martin could join me to talk about resources that are available to Wisconsin educators and families through the Library of Congress. The Library of Congress is one of our great national treasures, and has been democratizing all of their materials by making them available online, allowing teachers to integrate them into their lesson plans.”

Rep. Ron Kind is a longtime supporter of education and the Library of Congress. In 2000, Rep. Ron Kind authored legislation that unanimously passed to create the Veterans History Project, which has since allowed veterans to record more than 100,000 stories and preserve them in the Library of Congress for future generations.
