WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors today elected Chris Lofgren, Ph.D., former president and CEO of Schneider National, headquartered in Green Bay, Wisconsin, as chair for an 18-month term. Lofgren succeeds Maura W. Donahue, president of DonahueFavret Contractors Holding Company.

The U.S. Chamber Board today also elected Mark Ordan to an 18-month term as vice chair. Ordan is chief executive officer of MEDNAX, a provider of maternal-fetal, newborn, and pediatric subspecialty care. Previously, Ordan founded and served as CEO of Quality Care Properties, Inc. Ordan also served as CEO of Washington Prime Group, Inc. from 2014 to 2015.

Lofgren began his term today after Donahue passed the gavel at a U.S. Chamber board meeting.

“Chris is a seasoned business leader whose deep experience and steady hand will serve the U.S. Chamber Board well heading into a very critical period for business,” said Thomas J. Donohue, CEO of the U.S. Chamber. “He has a keen sense of the shifting dynamics of the moment and can help the Chamber and our members navigate all kinds of new challenges and opportunities.”

As the third CEO of Schneider National, Lofgren served for 17 years, seeing the company through its initial public offering in 2017 before retiring in 2019. During Lofgren’s time with the company, Schneider doubled its annual revenue to $4.4 billion. Schneider National is a premier provider of trucking, intermodal and logistics services. The firm’s services include regional and long-haul transportation, expedited, intermodal, supply chain management, and port logistics.

Demonstrating a steadfast commitment to volunteer leadership, Lofgren has been an active and engaged member of the U.S. Chamber Board since 2011.

Lofgren served as CEO, president, and director of Schneider National from August 2002 until his retirement in April 2019. He joined Schneider Logistics in 1994 as vice president of engineering and systems. Before joining Schneider, Lofgren held positions at Symantec Corporation, Motorola and CAPS Logistics. Lofgren also served on the Green Bay, Wisconsin Senior Advisory Board for Junior Achievement, the Boys and Girls Club, and the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra.

Lofgren has been a member of the board of directors of International Money Express (IMXI), an emerging growth fintech company based in Miami, Florida, since 2019 and serves as chairman of its nominating and governance committees. Recently, Lofgren was nominated to the Board of Governors of the Montana State University Alumni Foundation. From 2005 to 2018, he served on the board of directors of CA Technologies and was chairman of the corporate governance committee from 2010 to 2018.

Lofgren holds a doctorate in industrial and systems engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. In October 2009, he was inducted into the National Academy of Engineering.
