The Trump campaign says it will “immediately” seek a recount in Wisconsin, citing “irregularities in several Wisconsin counties” that raise doubt about the validity of the results.
“Despite ridiculous public polling used as a voter suppression tactic, Wisconsin has been a razor thin race as we always knew that it would be,” Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien said in a statement. “There have been reports of irregularities in several Wisconsin counties which raise serious doubts about the validity of the results. The President is well within the threshold to request a recount and we will immediately do so.”
The statement didn’t detail any issues with the Wisconsin vote.
In a morning briefing, Biden campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon told listeners President Trump would need around four times the total of still outstanding votes in the state in order to overtake Biden’s lead. The lead stood at 20,517 votes as of 12:12 p.m. today, according to the Associated Press.
“We expect and we believe that we have already won Wisconsin,” she said. “We have a very clear sense of the votes that are there, the votes that are in, and we are very confident that Wisconsin is ours and we will continue to stay ahead there.”
