MILWAUKEE –Supervisor Sequanna Taylor was elected First Vice Chair of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors today on a unanimous vote. Taylor ran unopposed. The duties of the First Vice Chair include chairing meetings of the County Board in the absence of the Chairwoman and when the Chairwoman wishes to participate in the debate on any item before the body.

Taylor released the following statement:

“I am humbled and honored that my colleagues unanimously supported me for First Vice Chair of the Board of Supervisors. I do not take lightly the votes cast by my colleagues. As we work through the coronavirus pandemic to ensure services are delivered to the public, we must make the safety of our constituents our number one priority. Leadership comes with many challenges and in order to lead one must know how to serve. I am a servant of the people. I’m looking forward to working with each member on this new Board and the opportunity we have to be helpers of one another,” said Taylor.

Supervisor Taylor was first elected in April 2016 and re-elected in 2018 and 2020.

As the supervisor for the 2nd District, Taylor represents several neighborhoods on the north side of Milwaukee, including the Wahl Park and McGovern Park neighborhoods, as well as Havenwoods.
