MADISON – Senator Roger Roth (R–Appleton), the 2021-2022 chair of the Senate Committee on Universities and Technical Colleges, today met with University of Wisconsin System President Tommy G. Thompson.

“Upon being named chair of the universities committee, I knew the first thing I had to do was meet with President Thompson to discuss the upcoming priorities of our university system. I highly value the thoughts and guidance from President Thompson and I look forward to working with him to reform, strengthen, and advance the UW System.

As the UW System is one of the largest and most influential systems of public higher education in the country, I understand the importance of upholding the core values of our university and ensuring that it meets the needs of all Wisconsin residents.”

Senator Roth met with Thompson and Scott Neitzel, Vice President for University Relations, and then had the opportunity to briefly address all of the UW chancellors via video conference.
