Madison – “Today the Senate Democratic Caucus elected Senator Janet Bewley (D – Mason) to be the new Democratic Leader in the Wisconsin State Senate and Senator Janis Ringhand (D – Evansville) to be the new Assistant Democratic Leader.

“Senator Bewley came to the Senate in 2015 after 4 years in the Wisconsin State Assembly. She quickly became a respected member of our caucus and an invaluable representative to her constituents in northern Wisconsin. I am proud to announce her new position and wish her nothing but success as she takes on this newest challenge. The role of Minority Leader is not an easy one, but I know Senator Bewley is up to the task.

“Senator Ringhand is no stranger to politics, coming to the Wisconsin Legislature after being Mayor of Evansville. Like Senator Bewley, Senator Ringhand joined us in the Senate in 2015 after 4 years in the Assembly and has been an incredible member of the team ever since.

“On behalf of the caucus, we are excited for them both to take on this new endeavor and thank them for their willingness to lead.”
