Madison – On Friday, State Senator Alberta Darling, issued the following statement regarding Governor Evers’ mask mandate:
“Rights do not go away during a pandemic. In fact, it’s more important than ever to protect the rights of the people of Wisconsin from another overreach by our governor.
Requiring masks should be up to local officials and businesses. I support the decisions of many of my local municipalities, restaurants, doctor’s offices, bars, gyms, and other businesses that already require a patron to wear a mask.
I wear a mask when it is appropriate, but I do not support Governor Evers’ latest attempt to circumvent the law and force a one-size-fits-all mandate on the entire state. It’s our job to act as a check and balance. I am in favor of an Extraordinary Session to stop the governor’s over reach of power.”
Senator Darling represents portions of Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington and Waukesha Counties.
