Madison – Five of six indicators “required” to open up Wisconsin laid out by Governor Evers are now “green.” State Senator Alberta Darling says the Governor needs to listen to the data and lift the overly-strict restrictions on small businesses throughout our state.
“I share the Governor’s concern about the COVID-19 pandemic and supported efforts to flatten the curve to prevent our healthcare system from being overloaded,” Darling said, “The criteria directly related to flattening the curve are now green. We have met that goal.”
According to the Governor’s gating criteria, 95% of Wisconsin hospitals can treat all patients without crisis standards of care, test staff for COVID-19, and cases among workers are continuing their downward trend. Over the weekend the gating criteria had three of the six metrics met and the governor made the decision to “allow” retail stores to open with unfair, and inconsistent restrictions. It seems these decisions are made on a whim rather than his metrics.
“It’s time to reopen our economy in a safe and smart way,” Darling said, “We need to be able to make decisions based on what we are comfortable with. time to address the economic damage being dealt to our working families and safely open Wisconsin now.”
Senator Darling represents portions of Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington and Waukesha Counties.
