GREEN BAY– Senator Robert Cowles (R-Green Bay) released the following statement applauding this week’s announcement of a coalition working towards cleaner water between Clean Wisconsin, Dairy Business Association, The Nature Conservancy in Wisconsin, and Wisconsin Land and Water Conservation Association:

“Clean waterbodies are as much a part of the foundation of our great state as agriculture. While the water quality in and uses of our lakes, rivers, and streams have adapted over the decades and while practices and technology in agriculture continues to evolve, so has our knowledge about how to promote conservation and agricultural production in unison. The partnership formed this week between these four respectable organizations helps to prove that, whether you live in a rural or urban area, identify as conservative or liberal, or see water as most essential for your cows or your kayaks, we all have shared goals.

“Whether it’s a farmer who understands and respects the soil and water on their plot, a citizen looking to help revitalize their local public lands, or a county conservationist looking to find resources to promote both agriculture and a healthy environment in their area, members of these organizations may have different backgrounds, but they have common interests. I applaud the efforts of Clean Wisconsin, DBA, TNC in Wisconsin, and Wisconsin Land and Water Conservation Association to establish a framework for today that can help lead to a better tomorrow. I look forward to continuing to work with these organizations to promote our state’s agricultural heritage and conservation legacy.”
