MADISON – Senate Democratic Leader Janet Bewley (D-Delta) announced today that Senator Jon Erpenbach (D-West Point) and Senator LaTonya Johnson (D-Milwaukee) will be re-appointed to serve on the Joint Committee on Finance for the 2021-22 legislative session.

“Sen. Erpenbach and Sen. Johnson have been strong and effective voices for working families in Wisconsin and understand the challenges the upcoming budget and session will pose,” said Sen. Bewley. “They will continue to fight for responsible budgeting that our families and businesses need to recover from the pandemic crisis, including our public schools, more access to health care, and good-paying jobs.”

Sen. Erpenbach and Sen. Johnson welcomed the opportunity to return to the key committee.  “I’m honored to return to this committee and work with Gov. Evers and our team to address the tough budget ahead,” said Sen. Erpenbach.  “Our homegrown businesses and the Wisconsinites who work so hard and well need our support now more than ever.  I’m happy to have the opportunity to keep Wisconsin workers, schools, transportation and – especially in the face of this pandemic – Wisconsin health care a priority in the upcoming session.  We need to bring our resources home to support our people and I will continue the push to do just that.”

“This is a vital time for our communities and an opportunity to come together with our colleagues and Gov. Evers in response to this crisis and its aftermath while preserving and building on key Wisconsin values,” Sen. Johnson said.  “Working families in our community and across the state are facing trying times with courage and hard work.  They deserve hard work and strong advocacy for family-supporting jobs, health care, justice reform, high-quality schools and a path forward that strengthens the opportunities for success from their Legislature.”
