Six days after voters went to the polls amid the COVID-19 pandemic — and with absentee ballots still coming in — candidates in Wisconsin’s spring election will begin to see results sometime late this afternoon and early evening.
Thanks to the federal courts, absentee ballots received by 4 p.m. today will still be counted in the spring election. Local election officials are also banned from releasing results until after that deadline has passed.
This morning, the state Elections Commission said nearly 1.1 million absentee ballots had been logged as received by local clerks. That left nearly 186,000 absentee ballots that had been recorded as sent, but not yet received. But many voters complained they never received the absentee ballots they requested.
