Madison – State Representative Chuck Wichgers (R-Muskego) issued the following statement following Governor Tony Evers’ State of the State address:

“Governor Evers is enjoying the blessing of prudent, fiscal responsibility in our state finances due to the diligent work of his predecessor and the legislature in the past nine years. I will not engage in the governor’s flights of fancy in his never ending spending spree that will raise our taxes and make it even harder to work and raise a family in
Wisconsin.

“The top issues facing our state are an aging workforce and rising healthcare costs. The governor would be wise to take heed to policies to address these issues. Emphasis on the skilled trades and a return to patient-centered, market reforms in the healthcare industry are of utmost importance to myself and my colleagues in the legislature.

“I also call upon the governor to work with the legislature to uphold and strengthen the family, which is the bedrock of our economy and social fabric. Stable families will position more Wisconsinites to achieve individual economic success without the need of government’s largesse. May God bless Wisconsin.”
