Madison, WI – State Representative Ron Tusler urged the Wisconsin Elections Commission to investigate a potential case of an elected official encouraging voter fraud.

The Wisconsin State Statutes state that all absentee ballots must be received by the municipal clerks when the polls close. In light of the unusual circumstances regarding the April 7th election, the United States Supreme Court permitted absentee ballots to be accepted after election day, as long as they were postmarked by election day.

A local elected official named Katie Van Zeeland proceeded to encourage voters to fill out their absentee ballots and send them in after the date of the election had already passed. I urge the Wisconsin Elections Commission to investigate this situation, so the integrity of our elections can be upheld.
