MADISON – Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke (R-Kaukauna) released the Weekly Radio Address on behalf of Wisconsin State Republicans.

I’m Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke.

The coronavirus pandemic has been devastating to Wisconsin families, schools, and businesses.

Wisconsin will soon receive $2.2 billion dollars from the federal CARES Act. Governor Evers has sole discretion over spending most of these dollars.

That’s why Assembly Republicans sent a letter to the governor asking him to funnel federal resources toward the things that will matter the most to our state.

Things like prioritizing the needs of hospitals and healthcare facilities, providing safeguards for our business owners and workers, and aiding our local governments will be crucial in managing the current and future effects of this pandemic.

With families already struggling, now is not the time for tax increases or other economically detrimental policies.

Legislative leaders also are working on a COVID-19 package to ensure the state captures all the federal dollars available to help our citizens during the pandemic.

Wisconsinites have responded to these incredibly hard times with both strength and resiliency.

We all should take pride in what is happening in our neighborhoods and businesses across the state.
