Today, the Legislature filed an original action in the State Supreme Court for a temporary injunction against Department of Health Services Secretary-Designee Andrea Palm and other DHS executives. Rep. Allen issued the following statement:
The legislature was prepared to act–and indeed did act–in response to COVID-19. If the administration needed additional statutory authority or administrative rules, it had sufficient time to request it under Gov. Evers original executive order. The process is designed to bring together stakeholders to better define the scope of the problem and solutions on which we can agree.
Instead of working with the legislature to find legal pathways to solving the COIVD-19 crisis, or presenting data and making the case for legislation based on scientific data, the Evers Administration conspired to push the legislature out of the process.
A crisis is the time to put partisanship aside and collaborate.
