MADISON– Melissa Sargent (D-Madison) released the following statement announcing an endorsement from Tia Nelson for her candidacy for Wisconsin’s 16th Senate District:

 

“Today I am proud to announce an endorsement from Tia Nelson,” said Sargent. “Tia’s activism and work throughout her career has been astounding. She is truly an exceptional example of what it means to be moving Wisconsin forward.”

 

Tia Nelson is the daughter of former Wisconsin Governor and U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson. She worked as a policy advisor with The Nature Conservancy for 17 years and then became the first director of the Global Climate Change Initiative. For her outstanding work, she received the Climate Protection Award in 2000 from the Environmental Protection Agency.

 

“Melissa Sargent is absolutely the best choice for the Wisconsin communities and environment. We need representation that actively works to fight against climate change, and Melissa’s efforts in the Assembly has continued to prove that she prioritizes clean water and clean energy with the utmost importance,” said Nelson.
