MADISON– Melissa Sargent (D-Madison) released the following statement announcing an endorsement from Autumn Neugent for her candidacy for Wisconsin’s 16th Senate District:

“Today I am happy to share an endorsement from Autumn Neugent,” said Sargent. “From the conversations I’ve had with Autumn and her continued advocacy, it’s apparent how determined she is to fight for equity and justice for all persons, and I truly respect that about her.”

Autumn Neugent is Ms. Wheelchair Wisconsin 2019. As a person diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2009, Neugent has been a fierce advocate and role model for individuals with dif-ability, as Neugent finds the term ‘disability’ to be exclusive or to indicate a difference from the norm. Neugent is active in the UW Natatorium Adaptive Fitness class and proponent of adaptive sports for people with dif-ability.

“Melissa is not only a great leader, but an amazing person– That is what drew me to her as a politician in the first place. She is a public servant that can be trusted. The first time I sat down with Melissa, I felt heard and could tell that she genuinely related to what I had to say. Her honest conversation makes me fully trust her judgement and actions as a leader in our state. Her integrity and sincerity is her greatest asset as a leader,” said Neugent.

“It is a great privilege to be receiving Autumn’s support,” said Sargent. “Her positive attitude, candor, and passionate advocacy distinguishes her to be an incredible benefit for our community.”
