MADISON– Melissa Sargent (D-Madison) released the following statement announcing an endorsement by former Fitchburg Mayor Steve Arnold, for her candidacy for Wisconsin’s 16th Senate District:

“Today I am proud to announce an endorsement from former Fitchburg Mayor Steve Arnold,” said Sargent. “Steve is a highly regarded member of the Fitchburg community, and has fought diligently for civic engagement and a government system that is for and by the people.”

In his time as Mayor, Steve fought for opportunity, open government, responsible and sustainable planning, community health and safety, and responsible investments. Prior, he served for ten years as an Alder on the Fitchburg City Council and has had many years of extensive private and public sector experience. He continues to be a positive leader who values protecting and empowering all residents of his community.

“Government should protect and empower every resident, not just the politically well-connected,” said Arnold. “Melissa Sargent has a proven track record of working on behalf of her constituency, and of doing the right thing for Wisconsin. I admire her ability to see all sides of an issue. It’s the type of individual we need in the Wisconsin State Senate. I am pleased to support her candidacy for the 16th Senate District, and look forward to her leadership for the Fitchburg community.”

“It is my honor to be endorsed by Steve, a revered leader and community member,” said Sargent. “Steve has always lifted up the working people of Wisconsin, and I am proud to have his endorsement for my candidacy.”
