MADISON – The following is a statement from State Representative Tip McGuire on the conclusion of the Wisconsin State Assembly’s 2019-20 session:

“With many months still available to us to continue working on legislation that could help our state, the Republican majority has indicated that the Assembly has met for the final time this session. This is incredibly unfortunate.

“We can still expand Medicaid to expand access to affordable healthcare and lower private premiums. We can still close the Dark Store loophole to help homeowners and small businesses with their property taxes. We can still make prescription drugs, child care, higher education, and homeownership affordable for middle class families.  And we can still pass the Governor’s plan to fulfill the Legislature’s promise of two-thirds funding for schools, as well as provide property tax relief.

“Now is no time for the vacation that the Republican majority wants to take.”
