MADISON – Today, Assembly Democratic Leader Gordon Hintz (D-Oshkosh) formally appointed Representative Deb Kolste (D-Janesville) to the Legislature’s powerful Joint Committee on Finance (JFC) for the remainder of the legislative session. Representative Hintz released the following statement:

“I am very pleased to appoint Representative Kolste to the Joint Committee on Finance, where I know she will be a strong advocate for Wisconsin values,” Rep. Hintz stated. “As a former medical technologist, Representative Kolste brings an important and much needed perspective to our budget decisions. She has seen the impact of irresponsible policy decisions on our healthcare system, leaving taxpayers with high premiums and less coverage.

“Representative Kolste is also a well accomplished legislator, having authored numerous bills that have gone on to become law with support from both Democrats and Republicans. She is highly respected by legislators on both sides of the aisle. As the ranking Democratic member on three legislative committees, I am confident her leadership on the Joint Committee on Finance will be a great asset for our caucus and the state as a whole.”

Representative Kolste joins ranking Democratic member Representative Evan Goyke (D-Milwaukee) on the Joint Committee on Finance, to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former state representative Chris Taylor.
