MADISON – Today, Representative Dianne Hesselbein (D-Middleton) was sworn in for her 5th term in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Hesselbein participated in a virtual swearing-in ceremony with her new colleagues which was facilitated by Governor Tony Evers.

“I am proud to have, once again, earned the trust of the people of the 79th Assembly District as I continue my service in the Wisconsin State Assembly,” said Hesselbein. “The challenges we face today are unprecedented and require experienced leadership as we move forward together as Wisconsinites. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to grip our nation, taking lives and livelihoods alike, I will push for relief in the coming session that is long overdue as a result of Republican inaction in the legislature.”

Last month, Hesselbein was reelected by her caucus as Assistant Minority Leader, an influential leadership role in the State Assembly that Hesselbein began in 2017. The Democratic Caucus increased its number of representatives to 38 in the last election cycle and is now a majority of women.

“It is truly an honor to be among such a distinguished group of legislators that reflect Wisconsin’s diversity, promise, and potential. Our Democratic Caucus is ready to get to work for Wisconsin families, building an economy that works for everyone, developing an equitable justice system, delivering real pandemic relief, investing in our schools and infrastructure, protecting our environment, strengthening our middle class, and advancing opportunities for all.”

In the coming 2021-2022 Legislative Session, Representative Hesselbein’s office can be reached at (608) 266-5340 or [email protected] . While the State Capitol building remains closed, constituents are welcome to reach out to Representative Hesselbein to share an opinion on legislation before the State Assembly, for help navigate a state agency, or to request assistance with state resources.
