Madison – Last night the Assembly adjourned for the 2019-2020 Legislative Session, despite the fact that regular session is scheduled to continue into May 2020. Representative Considine (D-Baraboo) offered the following statements:
“I am proud of the work we’ve done this session,” said Rep. Considine. “In the past year, my colleagues and I have found dozens of issues to work on together including clean water, supporting our rural communities, investing in education, and funding our roads. This is why I am disappointed that we’re adjourning early.
“We adjourned last night with so much left to do. We are adjourning months early despite the fact that our schools have behavioral issues, our communities lack mental health support, and our farmers’ needs aren’t being met. This self-imposed deadline to adjourn is disappointing. We should have continued our good bipartisan work. We didn’t need to cut this session short.
“I plan to continue working on these issues, among others, in the coming months. I was elected to do a job. I’m willing to put in the time and effort. I hope my colleagues agree with me and demand we meet in extraordinary session to continue this work.
