As of 8 p.m. the polls are now closed across Wisconsin, although voters who were in line at closing will still get the chance to vote.

In the past five elections in Wisconsin, only two — Democrat Barack Obama’s wins in 2008 and 2012 — were called before midnight.

In 2000, the first network called the state for Dem Al Gore around 5:20 a.m.; he won with a margin of 5,708 votes.

In 2004, the state was called for Democrat John Kerry around 3:45 a.m. and he had a winning margin of 11,384.

And four years ago, the Associated Press called the race for Donald Trump at 1:32 a.m. and he ended up with a winning margin of 22.478 votes.
