Milwaukee WI, October 14, 2020—The NAACP has declared SaturdayOctober 24, 2020 as
“Homecoming and Early Voting Day.” According to Ms. Joan Hollingsworth, NAACP State
“Get Out the Vote” coordinator, “we want everyone to make their voting plan, vote early and safely and call family and friends and encourage them to vote.” The Wisconsin State
Conference of Branches is coordinating multiple activities designed to encourage infrequent
voters to vote early and safely during the November 3rd election. As State GOTV coordinator, Ms. Hollingsworth will work with a statewide team of Branch Presidents to ensure they have the materials, training and information needed to reach voters, and businesses while keeping the NAACP visible in African American communities throughout the State.
Mr. Wendell Harris Sr., President of the State Conference says, “we are looking to young
leaders to step forward and volunteer considering how vitally important this election is to us all.”
Our communities are in critical need of Poll Workers and Observers” Harris said.
Political Action Chair Greg Jones reported the data suggests that 25% of Infrequent Voters aren’t aware they live in states that offer early voting. 29% of Infrequent Voters aren’t aware they live in states that contribute to voting by absentee ballot. “Aligning Wisconsin efforts to Infrequent Voters allows us to educate and inform the electorate and build a sustainable base of voters,” Jones said.
